Healthy Slow Living Habits

By

Before you dive into my blog, make sure you’re holding a cozy cup of tea or a fragrant coffee or a zesty juice or whatever suits your comfort (and your mood).. Feel that warmth in your hands or the refreshing chill, and let it set the tone.

Because this isn’t just a blog.. it’s a gentle nudge to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and live a little lighter. Over the past year, I’ve been exploring a slower, more intentional way of life..

So take a sip, settle in, and let’s walk together through the art of slow living.

(Amidst the chaos of conflicts.. whether it’s between India and Pakistan, Israel and Palestine, or even the constant buzz of budget updateszz one truth remains universal: for those of us glued to the news, we all deserve a moment of peace)

1. Mindful Eating 🍽️🥗🫜

These days, I’ve fallen in love with seasonal meals. Right now?

Mango madness everywhere.. Yes, ice creams and other delicacies are usually bought from outside (because convenience is also part of balance).

But what I do make is my homemade lemonade or mint chutney or a Cucumber tangy salad with onion, tomatoes and lemon.

It’s fresh, tangy, and cools the system beautifully during these hot days.

Why mindful eating matters:

• You actually taste your food.

• You connect with what nourishes you.

• It reduces overeating and improves digestion.

Try this:

• Put your phone away while eating.

• Take smaller bites and chew slowly.

2. Gentle Movement & Green Therapy 🚶‍♀️🌿🕊️

I walk almost every day and not just for fitness but because I genuinely love it.

The lush green trees, blooming flowers, the scent of soil after watering… my area is flooded with natural beauty. It’s my daily dose of joy (especially while walking to the gym).

My go-to movement checklist:

• Daily walks (nature + cardio = double win!)

• Light stretching in the evening or Yoga once in a month.

Bonus Tip: Move for joy, not just weight. Your body deserves celebration, not punishment.

3. Prioritizing Restful Sleep 🛌💤

Lately, my sleep’s been all over the place. I don’t even know why. So, I decided to geek out on self-care and got this SMART RING..

And let me tell you it’s next level.

What my smart ring tracks:

• Mood fluctuations

• Heart rate & skin temperature

• Sleep cycles & anxiety spikes

• How much I should eat or burn daily

It’s like a tiny wellness coach on my finger!

(Stay tuned.. I’ll share a whole post just on this!)

My current sleep ritual goals:

• No screens an hour before bed

• Herbal tea or warm turmeric milk ( am trying)

• Dim lights + essential oils or Peach Night Cream (it smells amazing)

4. Emotional Check-Ins & Mood Waves ☁️☀️

I wouldn’t say I struggle with mental health, but I do get moody especially when my sleep or hormones are off as I think am getting actually older and older.. And this is another reason I love my smart ring:

It even alerts me when I’m entering an anxious or low-energy phase.

My slow living mental health practices:

• Gratitude lists in my mind as I can’t journal

• Walks without music just me & my thoughts

• Talking to someone when I feel off (yes, even you through my blogs !)

• Watching clouds or sunrise (without a camera)

5. Clutter (The Honest Truth) 🧺🫣

Okay, confession time:

I don’t declutter unless I tell myself to or I have find something of utmost importance..

But that’s okay slow living isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being aware.

So, whenever you’re ready to let go of one little pile or one unnecessary tab in your brain… do it. Gently.

6. Slowing Down Your Thoughts 🧠⏳

Sometimes, my brain runs marathons I didn’t sign up for. Slowing down mentally is now part of my daily pause practice.

Not exactly my mental reset tips ( but if people wants to do )

• Tea breaks in silence

• Looking at the sky for a minute ( I find it funny too but I did a research & people accepted it works !!)

• Deep breathing : inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 6

7. Nature as a Healing Partner 🌸✨

Nature is not just something I admire it’s my therapy.

The walk to my gym? Feels like stepping through a living painting dark green canopies, wildflowers, sometimes even birdsong.( traffic in between) It’s calming. It’s humbling. It’s where I return to me.

Nature rituals you can try:

• 5-minute barefoot grounding on grass

• Noticing 3 beautiful things during your walk ( not human😂)

• Watering plants slowly, mindfully

Slow Is Powerful. Slow Is Sacred.

This journey of slow living isn’t about checking off a list.. it’s about listening deeply.

To your body.

To the seasons.

I hope this little heart-to-heart inspires you to slow down and soak in life a bit more fully. Whether it’s through movement, rest, food, or even technology like my smart ring choose what brings you back to yourself.

With love & leafy hugs,

Dolly 🌸🪴

I just woke up from my afternoon nap and was actually having a mocktail trying to beat this Aussie heat. I had a load of laundry hanging on the line, the kookaburras were having a laugh outside, and I thought, ‘Let’s see what Dolly’s up to.’ Your post was just the perfect little pick-me-up, like catching up with an old mate. Your words make even the simplest moments feel special. Keep them coming, love! Cheers, Sarah from Brisbane
