I don’t do this every day. But once a week, I make time for me.
Not to look a certain way. Not to follow trends. But to feel light, refreshed, and recharged.
Because life gets busy. We wake up, rush through the day, manage endless to-do lists, and by the time we pause, we’re too exhausted to care for ourselves. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s this:
✨ Self-care isn’t a luxury. It’s how we pour back into ourselves. ✨
So, I dedicate one evening a week to a little reset ritual—a slow, intentional self-care night that feels like a mini spa day at home. And every time I do it, I feel lighter, calmer, and more ‘me’ again.

Step 1: Setting the Mood – Creating a Spa-Like Atmosphere at Home
Before I begin, I like to set the scene. Because self-care isn’t just about what you do—it’s about how it makes you feel.
✨ I dim the lights and switch on my fairy lights—their soft glow instantly makes my space feel warm and cozy.

✨ I light a scented candle (vanilla or orange are my favourites). Within minutes, my room smells like a spa.
✨ I play soft music—sometimes lo-fi beats, sometimes rain sounds. Anything that helps my mind unwind.
✨ I take a deep breath. The day melts away, and I’m finally in the moment.
💡 Pro Tip: Studies show that aromatherapy can lower stress levels and improve sleep. If you’ve had a long day, try diffusing lavender oil before bed—it works wonders!

Step 2: Hair Wash – The Ultimate Fresh Start
There’s something about freshly washed hair that feels like hitting the reset button.
💆♀️ I start with a gentle scalp massage while shampooing—it improves blood circulation and promotes hair growth.
💆♀️ I apply a deep-conditioning hair mask for frizz control and let it sit while I move on to my next step.
And just like that, my hair feels lighter, bouncier, and refreshed.

Step 3: A Luxurious Shower & Body Care Ritual
This isn’t just a shower. It’s a full-body self-care experience.
☕ Exfoliation with a Coffee Scrub – I love using a coffee scrub to remove dead skin, improve circulation, and leave my skin baby soft. Plus, the scent of coffee? Pure bliss.
🚿 A Warm Shower with Hydrating Body Wash – I use a gentle, sulphate-free body wash that cleanses without drying my skin.
🪒 Shaving for Silky Skin – I use a thick lotion to prevent irritation and get the smoothest finish.
I stand under the warm water, let the steam rise, and close my eyes for a moment. It’s my little escape.

Step 4: Locking in Moisture – The Hydration Ritual
💧 Body Oil First – While my skin is still damp, I massage in a nourishing body oil (almond or coconut) to deeply hydrate my skin.
💆♀️ Layer with a Luxurious Body Lotion – A rich, scented body lotion (vanilla, coconut, or floral notes for me ) locks in moisture and keeps my skin soft all night.
💡 Did you know? Applying lotion on damp skin helps it absorb better, keeping your skin hydrated for longer!

Step 5: Facial Care – A Mini Spa for My Skin
My nighttime skincare routine is simple but deeply relaxing.
🧼 Double Cleansing – I remove sunscreen and dirt with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a gentle foaming cleanser.( Remember l do this once a week )
🌿 Exfoliation or a Mask – If my skin looks tired, I use a gentle scrub or a cooling sheet mask to bring it back to life.
💦 Serum & Moisturiser – A hydrating serum + a rich face cream = the ultimate glow-up.
✨ Lip Balm – No one talks about this, but waking up with soft lips is underrated.
And just like that, my skin feels refreshed, hydrated, and ready for a restful sleep.

Step 6: Hands, Feet & Nail Care – The Often-Neglected Step
I’m guilty of neglecting my hands and feet—but I try to show them some love during my self-care nights.
🌿 On good days: I use a cuticle oil(recently l ordered), trim my nails, and do a mini foot scrub( rarely 🙈)
🌿 On lazy days: I just apply a thick moisturiser and wear fluffy socks overnight and sometimes till next day.
Because self-care doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to make you feel good.

Step 7: The Final Touch – Relaxation & Reflection
Now that my body and mind feel refreshed, I truly unwind.
🛋️ I slip into cozy loungewear—soft pyjamas or a fluffy robe.
☕ I make a warm drink—chamomile tea or you can try warm almond milk with cinnamon
📖 I read or journal—sometimes I reflect on my week, sometimes I just get lost in a book.
And that’s it. My weekly self-care ritual—a simple, soul-soothing routine that makes me feel lighter, happier, and more at peace.

Self-care isn’t about looking perfect—it’s about feeling good in your own skin.
✨ Every time I do this, I wake up feeling recharged and at peace.
✨ Every time I prioritise myself, I show up better for others too.
