A New Found Love: A Place in France That Stole My Heart

By

Today was different. I stumbled upon a place in France that I had never heard of—or perhaps I had, but it never resonated until now.

Let’s just say, it felt like I “discovered” it, though the world probably knows all about it already.

And oh my goodness, I fell in love with it instantly. Not just the regular “this is pretty” kind of love but the head-over-heels, “I was meant to live here” kind.

I know what you’re thinking—“Why don’t you just move there then?” Well, let’s be honest.

Unless my son grows up, gets married, and decides to stay at his wife’s house (highly unlikely), moving to a dreamy little French town isn’t exactly on my horizon. But hey, a girl can dream!

Menton: The Pearl of France

Menton is a dreamy coastal town on the French Riviera that feels straight out of a painting. With its pastel-colored buildings, turquoise Mediterranean waters, and charming cobblestone streets, it’s a place that captivates you instantly.

Known as the “Pearl of France,” its lush gardens, vibrant lemon groves, and tranquil vibe invite you to slow down and savor every moment. It’s not just a destination; it’s an experience you’ll carry with you forever.( OBVIOUSLY I GOOGLED as I wasn’t aware about it. )

For a moment, I felt like I had traveled back in time. The village has this old-world charm that makes you slow down and breathe in the beauty of life—something I’ve been really embracing lately with my new love for slow living. It’s not just about the picturesque scenes (though they are breathtaking); it’s the pace of life, the simplicity, and the way everything feels so perfectly imperfect.

Now, I know we all dream about Amalfi, Rome, Tuscany, and the usual suspects. But this place ahhhh? It’s like the quiet sibling who doesn’t seek attention but effortlessly steals the show. I spent the entire day watching videos, scrolling through photos, and imagining myself wandering those magical streets. And let me tell you, I was ready to pack my bags (and maybe yours too if you want to come along!).

For the slow-living enthusiasts out there, this is the place for you. It’s not about rushing to tick landmarks off your itinerary but about savoring every moment. Have breakfast at a charming little café, sip coffee (or wine, because it’s France!), and let the world fade into the background. The kind of life where time doesn’t matter, and beauty is all around you.

But now, a little reality check (with some banter). This slow-living dream of mine? Well, it’s going to take some hard work—by my husband! I’m already warning him: “Dear, you better start working 24*7, 365 days a year!” 😂 Because honestly, this dream either ends with us sipping wine in South France or saying goodbye to our television and going full minimalism. No in-between.

Jokes aside, I must tell you, my husband works incredibly hard. His job is mentally exhausting—a desk job that demands his all. But my secret hope is that when he reads this, he gets the hint (subtle, right?) and makes sure we visit proper South France one day. I mean, he deserves the break too!

This newfound love has reminded me how magical it feels to dream, to slow down, and to embrace the beauty of life. So, here’s the deal: If you’re heading to France anytime soon, do me a favor and visit this place. Stroll its streets, soak in the views, and maybe send me some pictures. Who knows? Maybe I’ll magically find myself there one day, sipping wine and living the dream. And if you’ve got room in your suitcase, take me with you.
