From ‘Fat’ to ‘A Little Fit’ – My Journey to Finding Balance!

By

Let’s get real – after my son was born, I went from being motivated to… well, not so much.

I wanted to lose the weight, I really did. But between sleepless nights, endless snacks, and zero control (let’s blame those late-night cravings), three years flew by, and the only thing I lost was my patience!

Then one day, I had a lightbulb moment – if I don’t take control now, I’ll be stuck in stretchy pants forever!

Cue COVID – the time when we all decided to bake these yummy treats and become of the master chefs  but also realized there’s time for fitness. And guess what? I hit my goal weight! 🎉

So, there I was, proud and victorious, hitting my dream goal weight of 55 kg. I was feeling light, fit, and ready to take on the world!

But there’s a catch they don’t tell you about when you lose weight too fast – you can get a bit… wobbly.

One day, I was doing my usual thing, and after a rather successful bathroom visit (yes, we’re going there), I had this sudden burst of energy. But in my new, lighter form, balance wasn’t exactly my best friend. Before I knew it, I stumbled, hit the TV, and fell! Yes, folks, I literally hit my goal weight, and the TV hit back.

Moral of the story? Losing weight is great, but maybe add a side of coordination training! 😂

Fast forward to now: I’m a bit heavier again, but you know what? I’m embracing it. I don’t consider myself “fat,” I’m “mom-fit”! It’s that healthy mom look we all know and love. 😂

So, what’s my secret now? Well, I hit the gym for an hour of cardio and strength training, then squeeze in a one-hour walk. And trust me, if I can do it, anyone can! Here are some of my best tips and exercises that have helped along the way:

Dolly’s Top Tips for Staying OKAY OKAY Fit (and Sane):

1. Make time, not excuses. One hour in the gym, one hour walking, and no guilt about sneaking in that chocolate square.

2. Progress over perfection. Every workout is a win, even if it’s just dancing around the kitchen while cooking dinner.

3. Enjoy the process. Getting fit isn’t punishment for eating cake. It’s about feeling good, moving better, and fitting into your favorite jeans.

My Go-To Exercises:

1. Squats (with or without weights)

It’s the ultimate booty-lifter, and hey, who doesn’t want to feel strong?

2. Push-ups

Start with wall push-ups if you’re a beginner( am still a beginner). Before you know it, you’ll be doing full push-ups like a boss.

3. Cardio

Sure, they burn, but think of them as mini-victories with every step.

4. Planks

Not just for abs! Planks give your whole body strength, and let’s be honest, they look cool too.

5. Jumping Jacks

Simple, effective, and a little nostalgic. Plus, it’s amazing for cardio!

If I can go from “I need to lose weight” to “I’m loving this healthier, stronger me,” then trust me, you can too! It’s not about being perfect – it’s about being progressively fabulous. You’ve got this! 💪
